As you can see, I’m quite new to this social media stuff…so yesterday I took part in a Twitter “event” for the first time – “Travel Talk on Twitter” or #TTOT.
Basically 5 questions are sent out with the #TTOT and every 10 minutes there is a new question. Yesterday’s topic “Power of reviews” was a great entry topic for me as reviews are something every Hotel Manager can relate to.
The following 5 questions were put forward to the Twitter world to answer:
- What review site is your go to place for information?
- What’s the most important information you look for in a review?
- What do you think is the biggest limitation to review sites?
- The funniest thing you read in a review?
- What makes you leave a review?
Naturally the answers to question 4 put the biggest smile on my face:
“Topless sunbathing on the beach should be banned. The holiday was ruined as my husband spent all day looking at other women.”
“No-one told us there would be fish in the sea. The children were startled.”
“I didn’t like the hotel because there wasn’t enough sun”
Here I also had to opportunity to comment with…“the sea was too salty“.
Being a hotel manager, it was also great to see that people want honest, genuine reviews…I believe potential guests notice the difference between a true and fake review. I know a General Manager who wrote fake reviews for his hotel – it became so obvious that even the hotels owners noticed…but I’ll leave that story for another entry…
Anyways a great 50 minutes, a lot of fun had by all, I may have to schedule meetings differently on a Tuesday from now on ;))
Finally a HUGE thank you goes out to….
…who all helped me find my feet in my new environment.
Anyway…for more info about this event that’s occurs every Tuesday (twice) see:
